Leigh W. Young

Leigh W. Young is an author, speaker, Bible teacher, child advocate, investor, developer, and entrepreneur.

Leigh’s first book, Lessons from the Letters: Living the Abundant Life, is about transformation. Jesus Christ wrote letters to seven early churches revealing the path to a rich and satisfying existence. These words, tucked away in the opening chapters of the book of Revelation, are as relevant today as they were two thousand years ago. This work combines historical and cultural facts with contemporary anecdotal stories in an effort to connect timeless wisdom to modern life.

Leigh has written and taught Bible curriculum for two-year-olds, third grade Bible classes, Confirmation classes, and adult Bible series. She leads Bible study conferences incorporating exegetical Bible teaching, active learning, worship, and fellowship.

Leigh began her career as one of the top national sales leaders in healthcare technology with NCR Corporation. She has owned a multi-branch travel agency and an executive search firm. She has developed, leased, and sold commercial properties. She currently owns and manages investments in real estate and in the stock market.

Leigh began her public service in the advocacy arena focusing her efforts on women’s and children’s issues. She worked with Governor Jim Hunt’s team in establishing the North Carolina Conference on Women and the Economy. Her statewide experience includes serving as a Director on the Boards of UNC-TV, the North Carolina Business Committee for Education, and the Board of Visitors for the North Carolina Children’s Hospital. She helped to draft and advocate for legislation for children’s issues as the Treasurer of the North Carolina Child Advocacy Institute and as the chair of the State Public Affairs Committee for the Junior Leagues of North Carolina. She chaired the Foundation Board for UNC-TV. She most recently served on the Statewide Leadership Council for Youth Villages.

On a local level, Leigh founded the Asheville High School Business Alliance and chaired the Corporate Champions for Children. She co-chaired the task force leading to SILSA High School at Asheville High School. She has served on the Boards of the Asheville City Schools Foundation, Children First, Memorial Mission Hospital Children’s Wing, the Ruth and Billy Graham Healthcare Center, the Arts Alliance and Western North Carolina Junior Achievement. She started a high school business skills program for Asheville High School; served as the Vice President for Community Development for the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce, and was the Director of Volunteers for the local PTO.

Leigh has been a speaker for Children’s Issues on television interviews, on radio shows, for church congregations, for civic organizations, and for conference keynote addresses.

Leigh and her husband of thirty-five years, David, live in Asheville, North Carolina. They have three daughters, three grandchildren, and three granddogs.
